School districts have multiple initiatives which often compete with
precious resources in our fiscally challenging times. Initiatives such
as response to intervention (RtI), school-wide positive behavior
support (SWPBS), coordinated school health (CSH), expanded mental
health, bully prevention, character education, standards-based
differentiated instruction, science-technology, engineering, and
mathematics (STEM) activities, professional learning communities,
Reading First, early intervention services have requirements demanding
goals, objectives, leadership teams, systems development, and data
collection and evaluation strategies which overlap, but when
implemented separately can paralyze and drain schools.
