Response to Intervention
Response to intervention
(RtI) integrates assessment and intervention within a multi-tiered
teaching and prevention approach to maximize student achievement, reduce
problem behavior and increase social competence. With RtI, schools
identify students at risk for school failure, provide evidence-based
interventions,
monitor student progress,
and adjust the intensity and nature of those interventions based on a
student’s responsiveness to them. At the same time, as schools attempt
to implement the RtI model to meet the needs of
students who struggle, they are often faced with implementing multiple academic and behavioral initiatives that perpetuate
separate systems of interventions. In many cases, this can be
overwhelming given what educators already have on their plates.
EdPro Development can assist schools in developing and
integrating
your RtI system by first
working with you to self assess your Tier 1 academic and behavioral
supports. Once your Tier 1 academic and behavior support systems are
satisfactorily in place, we will work with you to establish your
integrated Tier 2 systems such that
they blend RtI, Early Intervention Services, and positive behavior
supports.
The onsite services provided by EdPro
to integrate Tier 2 systems is a four step process First, we support schools
to determine the variety of Tier 2 interventions already in place.
Second, we support schools to analyze and refine current interventions
in terms of their research-base, data-collection and decision-making
strategies, effectiveness, and existing systems of referral and
"graduation". Fourth, we assist schools to "fill the gaps" in
interventions. As a result of these efforts, schools will efficiently identify students who need additional supports
and effectively provide those supports for students who are at risk of
school failure.
EdPro Development is happy to continue "up the triangle" to Tier 3
systems of support, beginning with assisting schools in developing a
referral process. From here, services available to you include
services for students
diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorders,
services for students with significant behavior
challenges, and our inclusion services.
